Noto
Noto is the jewel of Sicilian Baroque. In 1693, much of the region was devastated by a strong earthquake, and it was from the ashes of that catastrophe that this enchanting city was erected in the architectural style of the time. The Baroque buildings that characterize the historic center were built with a local golden-colored stone, which gives Noto a unique appearance. Among the main sites of interest are the Cathedral of San Nicolò, the Nicolaci di Villadorata Palace with its beautiful Baroque balconies, and the Royal Gate, which marks the entrance to the city. Noto is also famous for its culinary tradition that features simple but high-quality ingredients such as olive oil, pistachios, almonds, and fresh Mediterranean fish. You can discover its history by participating in a guided tour with included local food tastings.
